We saw more animals of all types; but my camera battery ran
dry at this point and I'd left the spare at home.
Compared to other New England country fairs I'd say the Topsfield is about
average sized; similar to the NH State Fair in Hopkington (but much smaller
then the Deerfield Fair in NH). It has better vendors selling stuff you *have*
to have; and more rides then some other fairs. It has a great varity
of junk food (my blood sugar reading was 385 when we got home). There aren't
as many animals as the other fairs we've been to (less then half of the number
at Hopkington); and no real main events (eg, the Demolition Derby, etc).
The horse and other competitions are likewise smaller, low key and not as
well attended. The 4-H and other specialized attractions nice. A few whole
buildings devoted to vegatables, gardening displays, etc, that are well done..
Overall a fun time; we spent about five hours there to see everything. We
went during the middle of the week to avoid the crowds (Hopkington and
Deerfield unfortunately only run over the long weekends.)
