I got this 1990 Jayco 1008SG trailer from a friend for free.
I don't need it so I'm putting it on FreeCycle.
|
1. It's a typical pop-up; hard top, a slide out bed at each end. |
3. The model number 1008 means the box is 10 feet long and sleeps 8 people. (The entire frame is probably 15 feet long or so.) |
4. Biggest problem is front section is separated from the side. It needs some replacement framing and a few screws or glue. This is the front left viewed from the left side. |
5. The front right has the same problem at the bottom, just not as pronounced. |
6. The tires and chassis are in decent shape. I had no problem towing it here from the Portsmouth area at highway speeds. The spare tire is also in good shape. |
7. The hitch mechanism has a good coat of rust. It took a few squirts of WD-40 and a hammer to get it hooked up to my car. It has the standard wiring and gas hookups. The gas hookup has a gas guage attached. It also appears to have a battery hookup (for the interior lights), but I haven't verified this. The jack has an attachable wheel. |
9. The canvas has a couple duct-tape repairs. It could use a real canvas patch kit. |
10. Two beds on each end are in decent shape. The front one is king-sized I believe. |
11. The dining table is on one end; it collapses to form a third bed which sleeps two. |
12. It has an ice chest (not a fridge) and sink with a hand-pump attached to a 4-5 gallon tank (if you're not hooked up to a water supply). |
13. Three-burner propane stove and a few storage cabinets. |
14. The "SG" in the model number stands for "Side Gaucho" (which in the RV world is a type of uncomfortable couch that turns into an uncomfortable bed). This is the fourth bed, each of them sleeping 2 people for a total of 8. |
15. It has both external water and electric hookups. |
16. The photo of Specs and Serial Number Plate is a bit blurred, sorry. You'll need to get a dealer or the police to fill out a VIN verification form. |
Overall these are nice trailers. This one with a little work
will be very usable.
Postscript: Trailer went to a couple in Wilton. They own and existing 1985 1008SG (ie, exact same model). Theirs needs work as well and they're going to combine parts. |
